Memories of a very good friend

Created by Audrey 3 years ago

Alan and I met Mary and Graham just after we got married and came to live in Four Oaks in 1963.  Mary was a great ideas lady - our first experience was of carol singing around the local streets to raise funds for The Birmingham Mail Christmas Tree Fund, ending the evening in a very festive fashion at Mary and Graham's welcoming home.

Mary and I became firm friends and I was encouraged to join Hostess Cookery courses, Badminton and Scottish Dancing to name but a few - leaving our husbands to look after the children for two hours.  Mary and I used to bulk buy beef for the freezer which we would bring home  and divide. One day when packing some mince Kerry the Irish Setter chewed the bag from the bottom whilst we were trying to fill it at the top.  He was the winner that day!

After the house move to The Wirral in the early eighties Alan and I spent many happy weekends together either in Sutton Coldfield or The Wirral, visiting National Trust properties and also activities which included the Rolls Royce.

I miss my Ruzzling friend already and she will leave a void in both our lives.
